Paneer Pulao is a great combination of Rice, Paneer and Veggies. Basmati Rice are cooked in delicious Indian cottage cheese (paneer) and lots of other vegetables makes this recipe world famous.

Sometimes when I get confused that which vegetable to cook for the lunch or dinner, so this paneer pulao comes in my mind and I quickly make it. We all enjoy this combo as our meal.

I like to add paneer cubes as it is in this pulao, but if you want you can shallow fry paneer and then add into rice. Fried paneer also gives a very good taste to this pulao. Sometimes slightly crumbled paneer also tastes very good in this.

Paneer Pulao is one of the most famous pulao recipes in India. This Rice Dish is generally served in family parties and special occasions.

Paneer Pulao Recipe

Paneer Pulao recipe can be made with Basmati Rice, Paneer and Vegetables. Various Indian Spices are used for making it more flavorful.


  • 2 cups Basmati Rice
  • 1oo gms cottage cheese (paneer) cut into small cubes
  • 2 onions cut into slices
  • 1 cup french beans chopped
  • 1 cup green peas (mattar)
  • 1 capsicum cut into slices
  • 4 green chillies chopped in slices
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 bay leaves (tej patta)
  • 1 black cardamom crushed
  • 2 green cardamoms crushed
  • 4-5 black peppercorns
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp fresh lime juice
  • Fresh Cilantro chopped
  • Fresh mint leaves chopped


  1. Wash the rice in normal running water for 4-5 times.
  2. Soak the rice in the water for an hour.
  3. Boil the rice in 4 times of water on medium flame.
  4. Add whole garam masala (cumin seeds, bay leaves, cardamoms, peppercorns, cinnamon stick and cloves) into the water.
  5. Add little bit of salt, mix well and boil till the rice are cooked properly.
  6. Pour the rice in the strainer and drain whole water.
  7. In a pan add sufficient oil and deep fry the paneer cubes. Keep aside.
  8. Melt ghee in a pan and add green chillies and onions. Cook onions till they look nice golden brown in color.
  9. Add french beans, green peas and capsicum. Add salt, lime juice, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  10. Mix the spices well into the veggies. Cook on low flame for 4-5 minutes.
  11. Add cooked rice, mix well. Add cubes of paneer and mix gently.
  12. Garnish with chopped cilantro and mint leaves.
  13. Paneer pulao is ready and can be served with dal fry or raita.


You can mix paneer cubes just before serving. If you want, you can add fried paneer pieces in this pulao.
