Patta Gobhi Mattar Recipe

Patta Gobhi Mattar is a great combination of Indian cabbage and green peas. An everyday bhaji or sabzi recipe, best to serve either as a side dish with dal and rice, or as a main dish with roti or naan.Patta Gobhi Mattar Recipe

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cabbage chopped
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen green peas
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 small tomatoes chopped
  • 3-4 green chillies chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried mango powder
  • 3/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

How to make Indian Cabbage and Peas:

  1. Heat the oil in a kadai / pan.
  2. Add green chillies along with onion.
  3. Fry till the onions golden brown.
  4. Now add cabbage along with chopped tomatoes.
  5. Adjust the sabzi with salt and spices.
  6. Cook the cabbage for 2-3 minutes and then add green peas.
  7. Cook uncovered on low flame for few minutes until the water evaporates.
  8. When the cabbage and peas are done, remove from the flame and serve hot with Indian chapatis.
