Aloo Tikki Chole Recipe – Step by Step

Boil the potatoes, peel and mash them in a big bowl. Add Red chili powder, Turmeric powder, chaat masala, garam masala powder, fine chopped green chilies and salt to taste.

Mix all the ingredients very well and make small sized portions from the prepared aloo mixture. Flatten each portion in a round or heart shaped patty with patty mould, just like shown in images.Aloo Tikki Chole Recipe Step2Make 4 to 5 medium sized patties from this mixture. Heat good amount of oil either in a pan or in a flat griddle / tawa for shallow frying the patties.

Aloo Tikki Chole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 boiled potatoes (aloo)
  • 2 cups cooked Peshawari Chana
  • 1/2 cup boiled chana dal (bengal gram)
  • 2 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Oil for shallow frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam or boil the potatoes till they are well cooked. Mash the boiled potatoes in a big bowl.
  2. Add 1/2 cup boiled chana dal, 2 tablespoon breadcrumbs, 2 finely chopped green chilies, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder. few fresh finely chopped coriander leaves and salt to taste.
  3. Mix all the ingredients very well and make small sized portions from the prepared aloo mixture. Flatten each portion into a round or heart shaped patties with patty mould, just like shown in images. You will be able to make about 4 patties from this mixture.
  4. Heat good amount of oil either in a pan or in a flat griddle / tawa for shallow frying the patties.
  5. Place all the patties on hot tawa and shallow fry them both the sides on medium high flame for about 6-8 minutes, till they turn golden and crisp.
  6. Now place the aloo patty onto a serving plate and top with cooked Peshawari chana. Spread some Coriander and Tamarind Chutney. Sprinkle some nylon sev and finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve.

Notes

You can garnish it with some finely chopped or sliced onion just before serving.
