KFC Veg Rice Bowlz is complete meal in a Bowl filled with aromatic Basmati Rice, Flavorful Gravy and some Crunchy Veg Strips. Well, I am not a fan of fast food and I really never liked KFC before but while on a trip to Goa I tried this at Kolhapur Highway and since then, I have become fan of KFC. I must say KFC has improved allot in last few years and have brought complete Indian touch to its menu in India.
After we returned from the long trip, we couldn’t forget our wonderful experience at KFC. After giving it some thought, I decided to make KFC Veg Rice Bowlz at home and I started experimenting with rice in my own kitchen. While it is not possible to get perfection and taste of KFC Veg strips at home, I was able to make rice with nearly same taste and flavor. Later, I decided to add my own version of Veg strip which tasted really good with these rice.
While it is not possible to get perfection and taste of KFC Veg strips at home, I was able to make rice with nearly same taste and flavor.
Now this dish has become favorite of my family and sometimes I cook it at the time of lunch for having some variety in my menu. Rice is one of India’s favorite meals and here gravy gives it a touch of Indian Curry. Veg strips are like a side dish, but the Bowlz is completed only when I top it with my fried and crunchy veg strips. Here is the recipe for you, please do let us know how it turned out for you in comment section below.

1 medium onion
2 green chillies
4 pods of garlic
1 inch piece of ginger
2-3 black peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
Few Coriander leaves, chopped

Boil the rice in water by adding 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt to taste. Drain and keep aside.

Let’s start making gravy now. Heat oil in a pan, and stir fry the sliced onion. Take out the onion from the pan and allow it to cool down. When the onion completely cools down, add this into the ingredients for mixer grinder (tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chillies). Make a fine puree out of it.

Add salt and cover the pan, leave to cook on a low flame for about 5-6 minutes, till the gravy thickens and a nice color comes out of it. Stir in spices and some chopped coriander leaves. Gravy is ready for making rice bowl.
Divide the cooked rice in 2 portions and mix half of the cooked rice in gravy. Keep the remaining rice aside, as they will be used for further serving.
