Indian Fried Rice Recipe

Indian Fried Rice Recipe is the combination of Indian Vegetables and Chinese Style. It’s a Quick Rice Dish, can be packed up for School Tiffin or even for Lunch Box. This Indian Rice dish is my own experiment in the kitchen. Which really turned very well and became favorite of my family. It’s an easy preparation of basmati rice, tossed with onion, carrot and capsicum and then flavored with some soy sauce and vinegar. You can use the vegetables of your choice. Just make sure to toss it continuously after adding every ingredient.

Ingredients required for making Indian Fried Rice Recipe:

  • 2 cups rice (long grained and basmati)
  • 2 medium onions sliced
  • 1 cup capsicum sliced
  • 1/2 carrot (peeled and slices)
  • 2 green chillies sliced
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp ghee / oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2-3 peppercorns
  • Few cinnamon bits
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to make Indian Fried Rice Recipe:

  1. Wash the rice 3-4 times in normal running water and boil them in 4 cups of water. While boiling add salt, bay leaf, peppercorns and cinnamon bits. When the rice are done, pass through sieve and keep aside.

  2. Melt the ghee /oil in a non-stick pan and add green chillies. Stir fry bay leaf, cinnamon and cumin seeds . Saute for a few seconds and add slices of onion, capsicum and carrot. Add salt and stir continue on medium high flame.

  3. Add turmeric and red chilli powder. When the onion and capsicum are almost done, add boiled rice, soy sauce and vinegar.

  4. Toss and stir fry just for few more seconds. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

  5. This whole cooking process of making rice is done on a medium high flame with continues tossing. Just like we do for making most of Indo-Chinese Recipes.Indian Fried Rice

Chef Tips:

  1. If you like spicy fried rice, then you may add more green chillies.
  2. Tri color capsicum can be used for making more colorful rice.
  3. Chopped carrot, cauliflower, french beans and tofu can be used for making more tasty and flavorful Indian fried rice .
