Microwave Mushroom Recipe

Microwave Mushroom is a quick Indian Vegetable Recipe, cooked in Microwave. Here mushrooms are cooked in Onion, Tomatoes and Spices.


  • 2 cups mushrooms (fresh or canned)
  • 1 boiled potato, optinal
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon red-orange food color
  • 1 teaspoon crushed kasuri methi (dried fenugreek)
  • Few coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • Salt to taste


  1. Chop the mushroom in small pieces and keep aside. Make small pieces of boiled potato and set aside.
  2. Mix the chopped onion, 1 teaspoon of cooking oil, ginger-garlic paste and green chilies in a microwave proof bowl. Microwave uncovered for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Now mix in tomato puree, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed powder, 1 teaspoon crushed kasuri methi and salt to taste. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  4. Now add pieces of mushroom, boiled potato, 1/8 teaspoon of red orange food color and about 1/2 cup of water. Also add lemon juice. Microwave for 4-5 more minutes.
  5. Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves. Microwave for one more minute and your dish is ready to serve.


You can add Green Peas in this dish. Milk can be added instead of water.

Chef Tips:

  1. Adjust the spices as per your taste buds.
  2. It is very important to chop the onion and tomatoes very finely while cooking in microwave. You will get a nice gravy out of it.
