Badshahi Roti Recipe

Badshahi Roti is a mouth watering roti recipe, consist unique blend of four types of flours. The combination of flours , kneaded in the mixture of cauliflower and spinach and then turned into a rich and badshahi roti, which can be eaten as it is without any gravy dish, its because this particular roti is full of flavors and tasty ingredients.badshahi roti

Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Servings: 10 badshahi roti’s.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup maida (plain flour)
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 2 tbsp besan (bengal gram flour)
  • 1 cup cauliflower chopped
  • 1 cup spinach chopped
  • 2 tbsp peanuts roasted
  • 1/2 tsp crushed jeera
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 cup hung curd
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste

How to make Badshahi Roti:

  1. Grind the roasted peanuts into a smooth powder and keep aside.
  2. In a sauce pan roast the crushed jeera just for few seconds.
  3. Combine all the flours, add curd, roasted jeera, peanut powder, salt, red chilli powder, sugar, chopped cauliflower, spinach and 1 tbsp of ghee.
  4. Mix well all the ingredients.
  5. Knead the dough by gradually adding water, make it smooth.
  6. Keep this dough aside at least for 10 minutes.
  7. Heat up a tawa on low flame.
  8. Take a small portion of the dough, roll on a clean surface, apply the plain flour if require for rolling.
  9. Make a small and medium thick roti.
  10. Place on heating tawa, higher the flame and apply little bit of oil or ghee.
  11. Fry until brown spots starts appearing.
  12. Turn and fry from another side as well.
  13. Sprinkle little oil and serve with any gravy dish, curd or roasted papad.
  14. You may also serve with coriander chutney and sauce.

Chef Tips:

  1. If you would like to eat this roti more spicy, then add chopped green chillies instead of red chilli powder. The taste of green chillies ultimately comes out while eating.
  2. You may deep fry this roti in hot oil, it tastes delicious.
  3. If you do not have roasted peanuts, then do one thing. Take normal peanuts, roast them in a saucepan or in the oven just for few seconds, remove the out layer and then blend to make a smooth powder.
