Masala Supari Recipe

Masala Supari, a famous Gujarati dish, made with all the rich, fragrant and dry ingredients of India. A superb chewing dish after having a delicious Gujarati meal.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gm chickai supari
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 6 tbsp poppy seeds (khuskhus)
  • 15 green cardamoms (crushed)
  • 1 cup fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 200 gm bhardi supari
  • 1 cup coconut scraped
  • 2 tbsp pot masala
  • 10 cloves
  • 4 tbsp vegetable fat (ghee)

How to make Masala Supari :

  1. Heat a big frying pan and separately roast coconut, cardamoms, poppy seeds, cloves and fennel seeds for few seconds.
  2. Cool down and then mix the roasted poppy seeds, cloves, fennel seeds and cardamoms.
  3. Grind into a smooth powder.
  4. Break the supari into coarse pieces and keep aside
  5. Melt the ghee and stir fry the supari till golden brown.
  6. Take off and mix with the rest of the ingredients.
  7. Cool and serve.
