Spicy Dal is a popular Indian dal dish, cooked in a combination of yellow moong dal and chana dal, flavored with ghee and whole spices. This special Dal recipe can easily go with steamed rice, roti or pulao.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups moong dal
 - 1/2 cup chana dal
 - 3 green chillies finely chopped
 - 1 tsp shah jeera
 - 1 tsp mustard seeds
 - 1 bay leave
 - 1 inch cinnamon
 - 2 cardamoms
 - 2 cloves
 - 2-3 peppercorns
 - 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
 - 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
 - 1 tsp ginger, minced
 - 6 cloves garlic, chopped
 - 1/2 tsp coriander powder
 - Chaat masala to sprinkle
 - Salt to taste
 - 2 tbsp ghee /oil
 
How to make Spicy Moong Dal :
- Rinse dals and boil in a pressure cooker with 4 whistles.
 - Check out the boiled dal, it must be soft and water should be almost evaporated.
 - Melt the ghee in a pan and add whole spices like bay leaves, cumin seeds and all other spices.
 - Saute for few seconds and then add green chillies, ginger and garlic.
 - Stir for a minute and immediately remove from heat.
 - Now you can either pour dal in stir-fried spices, or pour spices into dal.
 - Turn the gas on and cook dal on low flame.
 - Add salt to taste and mix the remaining ingredients as well.
 - Let it simmer until the consistency of dal is slightly thick.
 - Serve hot with rice or roti.
