Bhindi Do Pyaaza Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 400 gm bhindi/ladyfingers/okra
  • 1 medium size onion sliced
  • 2 small tomatoes chopped
  • 4-5 cloves garlic minced
  • A pinch of ajwain
  • 2-3 green chillies chopped
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 mace
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp amchur powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil to fry

How to make Bhindi Do Pyaaza:

  1. Wash the bhindi in normal tap water and pat dry with clean kitchen napkin.
  2. Cut the bhindi either in small pieces or slightly trim the edges and slit them.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok and add curry leaves and green chillies.
  4. Saute for few seconds and add minced garlic and sliced onion.
  5. Fry until onion translucent and add chopped tomatoes along with the chopped bhindi.
  6. Mix the asafoetida, salt, ajwain, mace and spices.
  7. Stir fry for 12-15 minutes until the bhindi gets cooked.
  8. Serve hot with Indian flat bread.
