Parsi Dal Recipe

Parsi Dal is a delicious Indian Daal recipe, cooked with Split Red Lentil (Masoor Dal), garlic and spices.Parsi Dal

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 3-4

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Split Red Lentil (Masoor Dal)
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 2-3 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4-5 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter (ghee)
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to make Parsi Daal:

  1. Pressure cook dal with some salt and turmeric powder until cooked.
  2. Remove from the flame and mash it properly.
  3. Melt the ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  4. Allow the seeds to splutter and then add green chillies along with minced garlic.
  5. Saute for few seconds and mix the cooked dal.
  6. Add salt and spices and pour the water as per your desired consistency of dal.
  7. Cook only for 3-4 more minutes and garnish with lots of chopped coriander.
  8. Serve this Parsi Dal hot with Indian roti or butter naan.
